Summary

Running a small-town police force in the mountains of New Mexico should be a smooth, carefree kind of job。 Sadly, full-time Sheriff--and even fuller-time coffee guzzler--Sunshine Vicram, didn't get that memo。

All Sunshine really wants is one easy-going day。 You know, the kind that starts with coffee and a donut (or three) and ends with take-out pizza and a glass of chardonnay (or seven)。 Turns out, that's about as easy as switching to decaf。 (What kind of people do that? And who hurt them?)

Before she can say iced mocha latte, Sunny's got a bar fight gone bad, a teenage daughter hunting a serial killer and, oh yes, the still unresolved mystery of her own abduction years prior。 All evidence points to a local distiller, a dangerous bad boy named Levi Ravinder, but Sun knows he's not the villain of her story。 Still, perhaps beneath it all, he possesses the keys to her disappearance。 At the very least, beneath it all, he possesses a serious set of abs。 She's seen it。 Once。 Accidentally。

Between policing a town her hunky chief deputy calls four cents short of a nickel, that pesky crush she has on Levi which seems to grow exponentially every day, and an irascible raccoon that just doesn't know when to quit, Sunny's life is about to rocket to a whole new level of crazy。

Yep, definitely a good day for chardonnay。

Just finished…OMG, LOVED IT! I cried in spots, I cheered in some, but mostly I laughed and smiled til my face hurt…encore, encore !

I really like Jones' writing。 She has great dialogue with snappy comments and comebacks。 She has great humor that made me laugh。 There is a good balance of character thought and development and suspenseful situations。 I like Sunshine as a character and was happy to see more about her abduction revealed in this book。 The plot is a little complex but that is because there is so much going on in Sheriff Sunshine's life。 Her daughter is a pistol and adds lots of fun to the novel。 Family relationship I really like Jones' writing。 She has great dialogue with snappy comments and comebacks。 She has great humor that made me laugh。 There is a good balance of character thought and development and suspenseful situations。 I like Sunshine as a character and was happy to see more about her abduction revealed in this book。 The plot is a little complex but that is because there is so much going on in Sheriff Sunshine's life。 Her daughter is a pistol and adds lots of fun to the novel。 Family relationships plays a big part in this novel, both good, on Sunshine's part, and not so good, on the Ravinder family part。 And what an interesting and surprising twist at the end。The only aspect of this novel I did not like and felt marred an otherwise great novel was the very graphic sex scene near the end。 And I mean graphic。 While it had a part in Sunshine's character development, I'm of the old school where I find allusion much more interesting and appropriate than graphic description。Other than the graphic sex scene, this is a very enjoyable and entertaining book。 I hope there are more planned for the series as I'll be watching for them。I received a complimentary egalley of this book from the publisher。 My comments are an independent and honest review。 。。。more

I received an eArc copy of the title from the publisher via NetGalley for purpose of honest review。 I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility。 Review first appeared at I am, Indeed 。。。more

It was OK I guess。 A little too much banter and wizecrack dialogs, I literally had a few flashbacks to Charlie Davidson (not a compliment)。 The detailed sex scene was also redundant in my opinion。

What a great series! This book wonderful and very very hard to put down。 Answered questions and paved the way for book 3 …。 Coming soon…I hope!!!!

There’s alway so much going on in Darynda Jones’s books that it’s hard to summarize them。 But she brings all the various parts together in the end。 We’ve got a bed fight, an old kidnapping case, a Ravinder uncle in jail, Sunshine’s daughter investigating a serial murder, the Dangerous Daughters, the mystery of Sunshine’s abduction and rescue, and the relationships between Levi and Sunshine and Auri and Cruz。 Major secrets are revealed in this one, and I loved it。

A second book about Sunshine and Auri Vicram? Yes, please! I hope there are many more! Sunshine is still adjusting to being elected sheriff and catching her breath from all the action in the first book。 Auri is starting to follow in her mother's footsteps by investigating old newspaper clippings about missing people。 And of course Sunshine is still lusting after Levi Ravinder。 I enjoyed revisiting these characters。 I don't want to give anything away as there are some surprises。 If you enjoyed A A second book about Sunshine and Auri Vicram? I really liked the first book in this series, A Bad Day for Sunshine, so I was thrilled to see the second book。 Sunshine Vicram is back and I can honestly say it was good to spend time with her again。 She is the sheriff in the town where she grew up, a place she ran from years ago。 ( Read the first book to find out how this happened, though you won't be lost if you don't。) Fate and her parents' intervention brought Sunshine and her daughter Auri home, and this boring little town isn't exactly as I really liked the first book in this series, A Bad Day for Sunshine, so I was thrilled to see the second book。 Sunshine Vicram is back and I can honestly say it was good to spend time with her again。 She is the sheriff in the town where she grew up, a place she ran from years ago。 ( Read the first book to find out how this happened, though you won't be lost if you don't。) Fate and her parents' intervention brought Sunshine and her daughter Auri home, and this boring little town isn't exactly as quiet as she remembers。This time, she is navigating bad blind dates, an extremely clever raccoon, old unsolved missing person cases, and her undying love for Levi Ravinder。 Whenever something bad happens, you can count on Sunshine's dialogue to make you laugh-out-loud, and don't even get me started on the other secondary characters。 They are as unique as Sunshine, and hands down there is one fictional town that I would love to visit。 The sarcastic banter just kept me laughing and flipping pages, and I am sorry to say, the end came too soon。 An engaging mystery, and even though I am not much of a romance reader, I've got my fingers crossed hoping that things work out for several of these couples。 This series is just too enjoyable to pass up, and as lots of my Instagram book buddies always say, there is no bad day for chardonnay。 。。。more

A great book。 A bit messier than the first, with a lot going on at the same time and none of it really rising above the rest。 There was more drama and less humour (or maybe I didn’t find the antics funny), but it balanced out well。 The big secrets of the first book turned out to be not so big after all, which was a bit of a let-down (I’m looking at you, Dangerous Daughters), and most of them were solved here。 But there was enough left open to end the book in a cliffhanger。 I can’t wait for the n A great book。 A bit messier than the first, with a lot going on at the same time and none of it really rising above the rest。 There was more drama and less humour (or maybe I didn’t find the antics funny), but it balanced out well。 The big secrets of the first book turned out to be not so big after all, which was a bit of a let-down (I’m looking at you, Dangerous Daughters), and most of them were solved here。 But there was enough left open to end the book in a cliffhanger。 I can’t wait for the next book。 。。。more

Amazing!! I expect nothing less from the wonderfully talented Darynda Jones。 Smart, funny and a mystery to boot。 Sunshine is the type of heroine that I love to read。 All the characters are wonderful and it's easy to fall into this town and this story。 It was an interesting twist to have part of the story about Sunshine's daughter and her friends。 When it was over I didn't want it to end。 I cannot wait for the next in the series。 Amazing!! I can’t even explain the level of SHOCK that the book would be left that way。 Honestly I should have expected nothing less。 ONE more sentence, just one。 Is that too much to ask?
